This gorgeous chateau destination wedding at Chateau Saint-Georges in France brings a theme of gold and black to create a chic and sophisticated atmosphere. A modern mix alongside the more traditional wedding is created with the hints of black against the gold and white traditional wedding, with touches from a classic chateau wedding. In this article, we learn from the photographer Jeremie Hkb about what inspired the wedding shoot and about the charming, graceful venue itself.
Influences
On the tops of the hills of Grasse sits the gorgeous venue for the perfect chateau destination wedding, Chateau Saint-Georges. This venue is perfect for a more intimate and private wedding, with about 15-30 guests, who can enjoy the Cote d’Azur while they celebrate your union. It is important with venues such as this to change the perspective of the place, yet all the while keeping the traditions and original ambience for the wedding day, as this is one of the most important things about having a chateau destination wedding. This wedding, for example, is shown to be in the gardens rather than the famous Gloriette, as this demonstrates the versatility of this venue and the different takes on a wedding it can have. Jeremie HKB captured the purity and gorgeousness of this wedding, alongside Jino Agnelli for the videography.
Venue
As for the architecture of the venue itself, the incredible embellishment, old wooden flooring, wall designs, indoor swimming pool and lookout point over Grasse all create a warm yet refined atmosphere for a beautiful chateau destination wedding. The black iron stair railings add a touch of sophistication against the otherwise gold and white backdrops across this venue, hence the theme for this wedding. The glass roof adds modernity to the classic and elegant French venue, creating a more state-of-the-art feel.
To add to the theme, gold and black have been placed throughout other aspects of the decor, for example throughout the floral arrangements, wedding cake, groom’s suit, candles, velvet on the chairs, stationery, cutlery and glassware. The black must be discreet to make sure the feel of the wedding is not darkened too much, but the balance of gold, black and white at this wedding is a perfect example of how to get a chic colour combination right on the big day!
Specifics
On the wedding day, the focus must also be placed on the couple, of course. At this chateau destination wedding, the bride wears a light and flowy dress which goes so well with the groom’s Italian black suit. The bride’s makeup is elegant and simple, to match the venue. The bride’s jewellery adds a sense of finesse to her overall look, with pearls and gold pieces to match the decor.
The stationary obviously had to have some gold leaf to help tie it in with the theme. The cake further ties in the theme of the chateau as well as the colour scheme of gold and black.
Aside from decor and final touches, the atmosphere had to match the calm and elegant vibe of the venue, so a harpist to accompany the wedding was the perfect finishing touch to this gorgeous chateau destination wedding. The harp accompanied the secular ceremony and the start of the wedding party.
