Wendy and Michael’s Tulum jungle wedding was the perfect combination of tropical flair, bohemian touches, trendy fashion, and a fun party atmosphere, set in a jungle surrounded by nature and the gorgeous Caribbean sea. Their day was the carefree and easygoing celebration they’d always dreamed of, thanks to hiring a wedding planner and a brilliant team of providers.
At the magnificent Zorba Villas, the couple exchanged handwritten vows in a lovely seaside ceremony amid the swaying coconut trees. The reception at Nu Tulum that followed was beautiful, with tropical vegetation and white orchid centrepieces, macrame decor, and lots of candles. The newlyweds and their guests continued the party with a wild night of dancing under the stars and a full moon swim until midnight.
There was no shortage of incredible detail at this Mexican destination wedding – from the fashionable wedding dress and lush tropical environment to the heartfelt moments and joyful vibe. If you’ve been daydreaming about a tropical jungle beach wedding, this is the idea you’ve been looking for!
Surprise from the Bride to her Adorable Grandmother
Wendy included her grandmother in the preparation process and surprised her with matching PJs. She was completely taken aback and was the first to put them on. She was radiant throughout the day.
Why Did the Couple Have a Tulum Jungle Wedding?
We both knew we wanted a beach wedding even though we are from Colorado. So a Mexican destination wedding seemed to be the best way to go! The ocean has the ability to bring out the child in all of us. We went to see Tulum once we got that figured out. We went out on a nightcap before meeting with our wedding planner, and we ended up at this incredible restaurant that was still under construction but holding a soft opening. We texted our planner, informing her that we had a venue to check out in the morning, and they graciously invited us in and offered us complimentary beverages. It turned out that this was her very first location. From there, we were sold. It was destiny.
Everyone Involved In the Celebrations
We wanted everyone there to feel like they were a part of the wedding, especially our family members. The officiant was Wendy’s oldest brother, Nick. We wish we could say he was for hire because his remarks just blew us away. As guests took their seats, Michael’s relatives sang and played. The music we walked down the aisle to was chosen by us. One of Wendy’s childhood friends gave us a Copal blessing, while Michael’s college buddy sang Leon Bridges’ “River.” Finally, Wendy’s grandmother presented a reading about the difference between new and old love.
How Was the Wedding Personalised to Them?
We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and our Mexican destination wedding wonderfully reflected that. The most unforgettable aspect of the wedding day was how genuine every detail was to us. The easygoing nature of the getting ready process for both of us, from rooftop yoga taught by one of Wendy’s closest friends to the enormous dance party with no rules and no shirts. We completed the evening by swimming in the water past midnight with all of our guests (including parents, aunts, uncles, and their friends) — it was a pretty strange but happy experience!
