I have recently developed an OBSESSION with vintage marquee lights. I plan on making one over Christmas, or two. Maybe three. I’d like one for the outdoor cinema nights I’m hoping to get going next summer (I know, Irish weather, why do you think I haven’t done it already!) and when I build my house, I want one for the bar in our pool room….. calm down, it is called the Wednesday wishlist after all! But more than anything, I’d love to use one of these signs for a wedding! I’m immediately reminded of “Chicago”, the US, 1930’s, music and drama, all things I love!
If you’re loving the love signs above, here’s a DIY tutorial on how to make one. I really am liking this twist on the marquee light sign, a bright love heart ceremony backdrop. This groom did all the hard work and made it himself!
So, the marquee light inspiration got me thinking of other ways to use light bulbs and turns out they make very cheap, eco friendly and super cute vessels and hanging lights.
So what do you think? Did the light in your head… no no, we won’t go there! How unusual is the light bulb boutonniere and bouquet? It’s difficult to see the bulbs but they are there! A little creativity can make the most mundane things so pretty, hopefully you are feeling inspired and snooping around the house to see what else you can transform. I’m hopping over to Woodies to get my supplies for the marquee lights. I’ll let you know how I go next week!
