Description
Château Grimaldi typifies both the history and culture of the Provence region
During your stay at this Aix-en-Provence chateau you will be able to discover the whole of the Provence region and its wealth of history and culture
Château Grimaldi is a beautiful 17th century Provençal style residence. This magnificent property owes its name to the Archbishop of Aix-en-Provence, Jérôme Grimaldi-Cavelleroni (1597-1685), who built the Château and resided here for thirty years from 1655.
At that time King René, the Count of Provence and a great patron of art and culture, developed Aix-en-Provence and its region to make it the capital of Provence. Aix-en-Provence remains a cultural reference within the region to this day and is widely considered the most beautiful town in Provence. The Château ruins provide a dramatic setting for the adjacent chapel and manor-hourse. The house has recently been extensively renovated to ensure comfort whilst retaining all of its luxurious character, intimate charm and history.
