Did you have a set of blue willow china in your house when you were younger? I think we had a full set at one stage, though by the time I was old enough to take notice of china patterns there were only one or two plates and a bowl left! My granny always had a set as well and something about just looking at the pattern makes me feel nostalgic.

The pattern itself is thought to be over 200 years old, and though it was influenced by oriental art it probably originated in Britain. I love the cobalt blue the design seems to favor, and the whimsical nature of the illustration. There is a legend of lovers eloping together surrounding the pattern’s design that adds appeal, and the two doves make a romantic motif (even if the legend isn’t quite true!)
